Febustar 40 – Febuxostat 40mg tablet Description:

Febustar 40 – Febuxostat 40mg tablet, is an anti-gout medication used to lower high uric acid levels in the blood. It works by blocking xanthine oxidase, an enzyme involved in the production of uric acid, helping to prevent gout attacks and uric acid crystal formation in joints.

Febustar 40 – Febuxostat 40mg tablet is commonly used in the treatment of following indications,

• Treatment and prevention of gout
• Management of hyperuricemia (high uric acid levels) in patients with gout
• Prevention of uric acid crystal formation in joints and kidneys

Side Effects:

Common Side Effects:

• Nausea
• Joint pain
• Skin rash
• Headache
• Diarrhea
• Abnormal liver function tests
• Temporary increase in gout attacks when treatment is started

Serious Side Effects :

• Severe allergic reactions (swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat)
• Serious skin reactions with blistering or peeling
• Liver problems (yellowing of skin/eyes, dark urine)
• Chest pain or heart-related problems
• Stroke symptoms (sudden weakness, slurred speech, vision changes)
• Severe rash or hypersensitivity reactions

Dosage:

The recommended dosage of Febustar 40 – Febuxostat 40mg tablet is,  

• The usual starting dose is 40 mg once daily.
• If uric acid levels remain high after 2–4 weeks, the doctor may increase the dose to 80 mg once daily.
• Can be taken with or without food.
• Take at the same time each day for best results.
• Continue treatment regularly even if you are not experiencing a gout attack, unless advised otherwise by your doctor.

Important Warning:
Febuxostat may increase the risk of serious cardiovascular events in some patients. Inform your doctor if you have a history of heart disease, stroke, or liver problems before starting treatment.

It is important to follow the dosage instructions provided by your healthcare provider or pharmacist when taking Febuxostat. Taking more than the recommended dose of Febuxostat can increase the risk of side effects and may not improve the effectiveness of the medication. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it.
