Etorifast 90 – Etoricoxib 90 mg Tablet Description:

Etorifast 90 – Etoricoxib 90 mg Tablet is a pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory medicine used to reduce pain, swelling and inflammation in the body.

It belongs to a group of medicines called selective Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors. It works by blocking the COX-2 enzyme, which is responsible for producing chemicals that cause pain and inflammation.

It is commonly prescribed for arthritis, joint pain and other inflammatory conditions. Compared with traditional NSAIDs, it may cause fewer stomach ulcers in some patients, but it can still cause serious stomach, kidney and cardiovascular complications.

Etorifast 90 – Etoricoxib 90 mg Tablet is used for:

• Rheumatoid arthritis.
• Ankylosing spondylitis.
• Osteoarthritis (joint pain and stiffness), when a higher dose is medically required.
• Acute gouty arthritis (sudden joint pain and inflammation).
• Moderate to severe musculoskeletal pain.
• Joint pain and swelling.
• Inflammatory conditions affecting muscles and joints.
• Short-term pain relief following certain dental procedures, where prescribed.

Common Side Effects

• Stomach pain or abdominal discomfort.
• Nausea and vomiting.
• Acidity and heartburn.
• Indigestion
• Diarrhoea
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Swelling in the legs and feet (fluid retention).
• Increased blood pressure.
• Fatigue or weakness.
• Palpitations

Serious Side Effects

• Heart problems: Heart attack, chest pain or irregular heartbeat.
• Stroke: Sudden weakness, difficulty speaking or loss of balance.
• Kidney problems: Reduced urine output, swelling or changes in kidney function.
• Liver problems: Yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine or severe abdominal pain.
• Severe allergic reactions: Swelling of the face, lips or throat and difficulty breathing.
• Stomach bleeding: Vomiting blood or passing black, tarry stools.
• Severe skin reactions: Blistering, peeling or widespread skin rash.
• Severe hypertension: Significant increase in blood pressure.

Seek immediate medical attention if serious side effects occur.

Dosage:

• The usual adult dose for rheumatoid arthritis is 60 mg once daily, which may be increased to 90 mg once daily if necessary.
• For ankylosing spondylitis, the usual dose is 60 mg once daily, which may be increased to 90 mg if required.
• For acute gouty arthritis, 120 mg once daily may be prescribed for a maximum of 8 days; 90 mg is not the standard recommended dose for this condition.
• Take the tablet once daily, with or without food.
• Swallow the tablet whole with sufficient water.
• Take it at the same time each day.
• Do not exceed the prescribed dosage.
• Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible duration.

Important Precautions:

• Use cautiously in patients with kidney or liver problems.
• Avoid use in patients with uncontrolled high blood pressure.
• Not recommended for patients with established heart disease, previous heart attack or stroke, or certain peripheral vascular diseases.
• Avoid combining with other NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, diclofenac or aceclofenac unless specifically advised.
• Monitor blood pressure during treatment.
• Not recommended during pregnancy, particularly in the third trimester.
• Long-term use requires medical supervision.
