Instavir – Dolutegravir 50mg Tablet Description:

Instavir – Dolutegravir 50mg Tablet is an antiretroviral medication used in the treatment of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) infection. It belongs to a class of medicines known as integrase strand transfer inhibitors (INSTIs).  Dolutegravir works by blocking the integrase enzyme, which the virus needs to multiply and spread in the body. It is commonly prescribed as part of combination antiretroviral therapy (ART) to help control HIV infection and improve immune function.

 Instavir – Dolutegravir 50mg Tablet Uses:

Instavir – Dolutegravir 50mg tablet is primarily used for:

• Treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and children (usually above a certain weight and age as recommended by a healthcare provider).
• Initial therapy for newly diagnosed HIV patients.
• Treatment of HIV patients who have received prior antiretroviral therapy.
• It is often combined with other antiretroviral medicines such as Tenofovir, Lamivudine, or Abacavir.

Side Effects:

Like all medications, Instavir – Dolutegravir 50mg tablet may cause side effects. Most are mild and manageable, but some may require medical attention.

• Dizziness

Serious Side Effects

• Severe allergic reactions (rash, swelling of face/lips/tongue, difficulty breathing)
• Liver problems (yellowing of skin/eyes, dark urine, severe abdominal pain)
• Depression or mood changes
• Suicidal thoughts (rare but serious)
• Severe skin reactions

Dosage:

The usual recommended dose for adults is Instavir – Dolutegravir 50mg once daily. In certain cases (such as drug resistance or specific drug interactions), the dose may be increased to 50mg twice daily. Instavir tablet can be taken with or without food. It is important to follow the dosage instructions provided by your healthcare provider or pharmacist when taking Dolutegravir. Do not stop taking the medication without consulting a healthcare provider, as this may worsen HIV infection. Taking more than the recommended dose of Dolutegravir can increase the risk of side effects and may not improve the effectiveness of the medication. Take Instavir – Dolutegravir 50mg Tablet in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it.
